8th REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON MOLECULAR MEDICINE IN CONJUNCTION WITH 4th NATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR CANCER RESEARCH

The conference is a biennial event organized by UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI) since 2005. This international scientific conference brings together researchers, academics and professionals, postgraduate students and industry players in the field of medical molecular biology from local and abroad. Its main purpose is to share the latest scientific findings as well as to highlight the latest and advanced technologies in molecular medicine and cancer. Precision medicine is a treatment approach based on the uniqueness of each patient according to the genetic makeup, lifestyle and the surrounding environment of each individual. This method has transformed the healthcare landscape and spurred research into the field of medical molecular biology. UMBI is leading the Precision Medicine initiative in Malaysia.
This time around, the 8th RCMM will be held from 19th to 20th September 2018 in UMBI and is the first time to be organised annually. The conference is panned out accordingly with an improved added twist with widened conference scope, competition and awards. This RCMM will bring a much more diversified distinguished panel of speakers within areas of molecular medicine in cancer, non-communicable diseases, infectious diseases, the –omics (proteomics, genomics etc.) and public health. We have registered for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points that will be awarded to attendees especially for medical practitioners whom require such credits for career development. Besides the commonly competitive best oral / poster award, we are also giving away award for the Best Scientific Art to bring out the artistic creativity among participants.
We are aiming for 150 registered participants, comprising from researchers, lecturers, students, clinicians and medical practitioners. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in dialogues with leading scientists in molecular medicine during “Meet The Expert” session. This session gives participants (especially students and young scientists) the opportunity to sit face-to-face, ask questions and discuss in a relaxed environment with these leading scientists about research or issues related to molecular medicine.
